Tokyo Street, located in the heart of the Hietalahti Market Hall, is the place to taste creative Japanese cuisine.
A perfect blend of colors, tastes, aromas, and textures, Japanese cuisine is a harmony of health and taste. Full of well-balanced nutrients, each dish on our menu reflects the chef's attention to detail.
With a Japanese-born chef at the helm, Tokyo Street offers a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy delicious Japanese cuisine.
In April 2016, Tokyo Street Restaurant was started by a married couple who moved to Finland. They are both passionate about healthy eating and benefits of healthy cooking. With having visited local restaurants, they realized that it's extremely difficult to find quality food, prepared with quality ingredients.
They noticed that there was a vacant space available in Hietalahti market hall and decided to open a small Japanese restaurant with very different concept: Cooking from scratch with organic ingredients wherever possible and/or with the highest quality ingredients available on the market.
In 2022, Tokyo Street is starting over with a new owner, Kenji Yano. Tokyo Street was already a great restaurant for the locals before the new owners took over, so he is focused on preserving the restaurant and the trust of its customers.

We use only fresh ingredients, making everything from scratch. House-cooked food is the healthiest because we know exactly what's in everything we make. You don't need to worry about sodium, fat, sugars, artificial flavourings, colours, and unpleasant additives because all the food you eat comes from fresh, whole ingredients.

The Hietalahti kauppahalli (Market Hall) was designed by architect Selim A. Lindqvist in 1903 and has been the focus of restaurants and cafes since 2015.
